When In Bloom

When I started working on this wedding invite, I was back in Bangalore and its springtime! The city was at its most beautiful with flowers of every colour creating beautiful canopies everywhere. Made my heart sing with joy. Obviously, this has translated into the card :) Lovely Rangeeta pretty much gave me a free reign with her wedding card. The envelope is made of brown paper and the whole thing is going to be tied with lovely blue ribbon. Im waiting to get the actual thing in my hands and Ill take some pictures for you to see :)

In bloom!

Butterfly Park

 one winged pretty

flowers merged with wings
wings turned to dust
flitted over the eyes
and cast its spell

 colours and patterns came together

We went to the butterfly park in Bannerghatta. The first thing that caught my fancy about the place was that at the entrance was a little sign that said that all letters posted here bore a butterfly stamp! how lovely!
And when the doors opened to the little park it was nothing short of joyful, jump around till you pass out amazement that I felt. Heavenly little place with little waterbodies and lots and lots of flowers and a million butterflies all flying around spreading the joy and wonder! I had to be bodily dragged away from that place.

Frangipani and The Magical Letter!

My book has a name! and a cover! and its finally going out of my hands and into the press this weekend.
I think im going to miss Samina and Skinny terribly, they were such good company these past few weeks!

Ive discovered ( through a dear friend) some pretty lovely indian blogs and been poring through them - feeling completely overwhelmed, and now I think I really need to stop being so lazy and do more! People can be so awesomely creative.

This here is my very very own frangi pani plant. Ive never owned a plant before and its soo beautiful and is flowering so beautifully (touchwood) that Im absolutely in love with it. My green thumb is anything but, so im really hoping it stays happy ! The other plant i bought, a beautiful bird of paradise one, has gone through a hard time and looks like a corpse. But its magically reopened one leaf ! So i have hopes for that one too, Ive been trying to talk it out of its gloom.. maybe it worked :)

Magical Market Worlds

A world on its own
with its mystic folk

Eyes that beckon
colours that lure

In clouds of spice
 I see dreams lurk.

Goubert market, 6 am - At first glance its noisy, dirty, complete mayhem. But then i see the colours and textures and bright eyes around me and am charmed by the shiny green chillies in the rustic sack, by the eyes of the magician with leaves spread about him, putting on a show for the world. I love to take portraits and study faces with stories written all over them. But I realise that Im shy of the questions that inevitably get thrown at me and not a great talker, so maybe when I get over that, I'll have a few more portaits to show ! Im also just picking up photography, this was my first real session, so plenty of room for improvement ! but I did want to share the experience. do hope you enjoy them.

The Wall that Flies

Joy freed from the bond of earth's slumber
                                                                                     rushes into numberless seeds,
and dances in the air for a day - Tagore

I love my home, and I've been trying to pour all my love into it so that in return, it keeps me inspired. I live in Pondicherry, and the houses here can be a bit strange (in a good way). In my apartment we have a lot of outdoor space, and there is a wall next to the washbasin just outside the kitchen (where we brush our teeth :) that Ive been wanting to do something nice with for a loong time now, and YAY I finally did !
Ive spent yesterday and a bit of today covered in paint and painted my wall a beautiful blue - which happens to be my happy colour right now, and then I drew some magic seeds. I hope you like it, im thrilled with all the colour there right now :)

                                                                           Before !

blue

And after ! I love to look at my new blue wall, it makes me feel so free and a bit like i could fly off any   second. must be the magic seeds :)

Magic in My Eyes

The waves are your soul
your body no longer yours
close your eyes
and let the magic flow.

I went for a water shiatsu spa treatment, where the unexpected happened. My mind treated me to technicolour pictures, and i watched for an hour while my body floated and spun. it was magical and these are some of the drawings that resulted. done in pencils.

The theory behind Watsu is that it messes up your perception of time and space because you are floating in water, which brings you to a very deep state of meditation. its very relaxing and worth a try.
